I adore my kids. They are beautiful, fun and intelligent. They are also needy and stubborn and frustrating at times! Some days it seems that the only conversations we have are when they need something. I understand that teenagers don’t have much in common with a 39 year old woman, and I don’t mind at all that they still need me. In fact, I like that they do! I am not a spontaneous person.
For as long as I can remember, I prefer to approach life with a plan. I like to know what steps need to be taken between A and Z. This is true for every aspect of my life. I have a need to understand what is coming next in order to feel comfortable and prepared. It is also why I am not a fan of practical jokes. They are so unexpected, and I can’t prepare for my reaction to them. Does this make me controlling? I must admit that one of my guilty pleasures is to head to my favorite coffee shop alone, get my usual and just people watch. Even better is when that coffee shop is located in a mall or busy shopping strip. God speaks to me often as I watch people just going about their business.
